Tillette returns for Samford but Goldwater stays sidelined

Samford has dropped three straight while head coach Jimmy Tillette recovered from his January 23rd seizure. Tonight, he'll be back on the Samford bench for the first time since the incident.
Looking back, Samford basketball coach Jimmy Tillette says he was lucky that it happened the way it did.
“I could have been in the shower and hit my head, I could have been driving,” Tillette said. “If it had to happen, it was a good venue for it.”
As it was, the scene on the night of Jan. 23 at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum was scary enough. Tillette, 59, suffered a seizure and collapsed during the second half of his team’s 70-67 win over UNC Greensboro.

While Tillette returns for Samford, the same cannot be said for The Citadel’s announcer, Darren Goldwater, who had hoped to return to form in time for tonight’s game. Danny Reed will again fill-in behind the mic as Goldwater continues to recuperate from last week’s hospital stay in Savannah.
