Sophomore Nick Orvin's two-run single with two outs in the eighth proved to be the game winning hit.

‘Dogs rally for 8-7 win

In a wild eighth inning, Nick Orvin’s single up the middle scored two runs that gave the Bulldogs (2-0) an 8-7 advantage. Bryan Altman led off the inning with a hit, his third of the game. After a pair of strikeouts, Justin Mackert walked and Matt Reifsnider reached on a controversial play that brought Blue Hens’ first baseman Ryan Cuneo’s foot off the bag. Orginially called out, the umpires convened and overturned their call giving Reifsnider the base. Ladd then singled to score Altman and re-load the bases and give way to Orvin, who put the Bulldogs ahead for the first time. Continue reading here
